Nicolas Quillé MW brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and real-world winemaking experience to wine education. Born in Lyon into a family with three generations in the wine business, Nicolas holds degrees in Enology from the University of Dijon, Sparkling Winery Management from the University of Reims, and an MBA from the University of Washington. He is a Master of Wine, one of the most demanding credentials in the wine world. With over 40 years spanning viticulture, winemaking, and wine business leadership across Europe and North America, Nicolas currently serves as Chief Winegrowing and Operations Officer for Crimson Wine Group. His previous book, co-authored with David Bird MW, Understanding Wine Technology (4th edition), won the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin (OIV) special prize in 2022 and is essential reading for wine education students worldwide. Nicolas teaches WSET Diploma classes, speaks regularly at wine conferences, and shares insights on LinkedIn. He was recognized as a wine industry leader by Wine Business Monthly in 2022 and serves on technical committees for climate action initiatives in the wine industry.
